Shafallah launches "Awareness, Partners in Development" campaign to promote awareness about disability issues.

The Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities announced the launch of the "Awareness, Partners in Development" campaign, which was launched in January 2024 and will continue until the end of December this year. The campaign aims to spread awareness and knowledge about the concepts of disability, autism, bullying of people with disabilities and how to deal with it, social integration, protection of persons with disabilities, in addition to teaching and developing skills for dealing with people with disabilities and benefiting from the social services available to them.

Designed in collaboration with the ministry of Education and Higher Education, the campaign includes a series of awareness workshops targeting school students at all educational levels, teachers, specialists, and families. These workshops will address various topics, including autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy, and will focus on the psychological, social and health aspects of people with disabilities.

In this context, Mrs. Maryam Saif Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, said: "This campaign aims to enhance community awareness about disability issues, and promote understanding and participation in improving the lives of people with disabilities. It is worth noting that the Shafallah Center presented during January awareness workshops at Cambridge International Schools targeting sixth grade students and presented by Dr. Wafaa Musabihin, a psychologist at the Shafallah Center, and dealt with the subject of methods and skills of dealing with persons with disabilities for 100 students, and on the other hand, the center provided a workshop for teachers at Cambridge International Schools, targeting 200 teachers on the management of children with hyperactivity and attention deficit in the classroom, and the workshop was presented by Dr. Arzu Sarb, a specialist doctor at the Shafallah Center, in English. For foreign teachers.

Other workshops are scheduled to be held in several public and private schools in the country in the coming months.
